Infidelity, lies and heartbreak was the inspiration behind Big Records.World Artist BrandiWyne`s Indie Rock based ballad, `Smarter Than’ released on January 5th through Sony / The Orchard
Florida born Brandi Huang, fronts the Seattle based band BrandiWyne, a moniker that Huang has granted herself since 2001. This award winning and highly nominated Rock, Blues, R&B and Pop Singer-Songwriter is no newbie to the scene. She developed and honed her musical craft from a young age exploring the world of Cover Bands, joining the all female Country group, “The Girls” before joining her very first original band called `The Scapes` by the age of 20.
With this, she ‘began experimenting in various styles of composition utilizing tones and modes, and the elements of mixing her own original music blend and unique sound of Rock, Blues, R&B, and POP.’ She has had the pleasure of gracing a production platform with like minded Producer, Tyler Mays, from IronGrove Studios, (Issaquah), Adult Contemporary singer Michael Cagle, and Roger Fisher of the band Heart, on various projects in which she launched her 2019 EP “Split Personality“, and Singles such as “Don’t Go There” (2021), “Underneath It All”, and “Never Enough” (2022). Her 2023 Single release, “Anime Baby” got a lot of attention and registered on the AC charts as well as getting her nominated for several awards.
Huang, who is very vocal about her paternal abusive upbringing, which was unfortunately shared with her younger siblings, mentions that she feels ‘her life mission is part sharing her experiences’. Their frequent and random moves, that seemed to be a game of musical chairs, takes part in her uncomfortable truth of ‘isolation and bullying’. Huang an advocate of change through her local Youth Art Program, says she wants to be ‘’a source of support to those facing similar experiences.“ She also wants to share her experiences on a Global front through the power of song.
“…through all of this to release hurt, anxiety from the moves, occasional crushes and even the anger and pain of trying to protect myself and my younger siblings from a physically abusive father. Music became a necessary escape to cope with the day to day.’’
Huang also mentions that she ‘supports and volunteers her time and musical Talents to Charities who raise awareness against Bullying and Domestic Abuse’.
THE IDEA OF CONFIDENCE and SELF-WORTH
BrandiWyne launched their new single ‘Smarter Than’ on January 5th of this year with the idea of raising confidence and self-worth in a ruthless and vulnerable world. Huang recalls the driving force that set the tone for her latest single and led to her imminent divorce.
‘It was bad enough that my (now) EX had cheated during our Union and thought he’d never get caught. There was something off’.
After doing the necessary research, Huang discovered the truth and found courage within herself to do what was necessary.
That’s where the song stems from… he thought he was “So Smart” but I was always “Smarter Than.. he thinks he is…“. In this song, I just want people to have Faith in themselves and know that it’s ok to say NO MORE.
BrandiWyne, who won “USA Female Emerging Artist Of The Year” at the 2023 ISSA Awards, and has been nominated for several of her singles such as “Anime Baby”, “Love Me Anyways”, “Never Enough”, “At Last”(rock cover), “Return To Sender”, “To Be Known”, recently performed and won “Best Pop Band“ at the Washington State Music Awards on January 14, 2024 and is set to hit the stage and be an Award Presenter at the next International Singer Songwriting Awards (ISSA) on Saturday, August 24th, 2024 in Atlanta, Georgia.
BrandiWyne is expected to release an EP in 2024. “Smarter Than” is currently available on all platforms, as well as their official music video on YouTube.
