Craig Jamieson teams up with Brad Gray to create Honey, a fun and relatable pop-rock single inspired by the frustrations of being friend-zoned. Embracing authenticity, Craig aims to connect with listeners through his music while planning future releases and a Canadian tour.
Inspired by a Sync Licensing opportunity via the web-platform Taxi, Craig Jamieson recruits his longtime friend, Brad Gray, to collaborate on this exciting new project, and they whip up their new sweet and raw single, “Honey”, in their basement studio in a day.
“Honey” was inspired by a TAXI music listing looking for Pop Rock songs in a similar vein as the “Not the 1975″ song by Knox for publishing opportunities.
The tongue and cheek lyrics of the Knox song inspired Craig to write about the frustration of being “friend zoned”.
The original version of this composition demoed Craig’s voice accompanied by an acoustic guitar. Craig, who was looking for that extra “je ne sais quoi”, brought the song to his longtime friend and collaborator, Brad Gray, who helped bring the vision to life from his basement studio. The song was arranged, performed and recorded in one day.
When asked by his Label representatives what motivated Craig to compose this song, he responded confidently with: “This song is my debut release and I want to show people the fun side of me as an Artist. This creation is boppy and lighthearted as well as shows a good part of my roots in the pop rock and 80s music genres, while still offering something modern and original.”
Craig, who originally wrote the song to pitch to publishing companies, was going for a coming of age type anthem that you would hear in movies like American Pie. He can only wish that people will have fun with this new single and make it part of their iconic playlists.
I wish for everyone in the world to hear this song and have fun singing along. I wish to resonate with kids going through similar experiences as well as adults who will find nostalgia in the musicality of the song. Overall I hope it is relatable and fun to listen to for all who hear it.
Craig Jamieson who was previously known in their earlier career as Charlie Knight has gravitated to the next level using his own name. Comfortable in his own persona, Craig wants to embrace his authentic-self and for his fans to get to know the real Craig Jamieson, and to enjoy his music for many years to come. Craig is planning on touring Canada and surrounding areas in the near future and is set to release 2 more songs under the BigRecords.World hybrid label as well as pursue more publishing aspects for his songs. He also is working towards releasing music videos and writing a Christmas song for the next Holiday season.
Craig takes his music career seriously. It is his business, his passion, his everyday goal. He wants people to share this experience with him, and that his creative essence touches millions of listeners; creating connectivity!
Craig feels that his music career so far has provided a creative outlet and a cathartic resolution to life’s ups and downs. It has provided him the opportunity to travel, perform, and meet interesting and exceptional people.
Music has given me a sense of accomplishment. It has made me into a hardworking individual, given me more confidence, and I am grateful for all the little wins.
Craig, who grew up in a musical family, states that “Music is in my blood.” He picked up his first guitar at the age of 4 and by the time he was transitioning into a teen he discovered grunge. This moment inspired a new part of his musical senses, one that would bring him closer to the stage as a performer.
“I want to be a songwriter just like my favourite Grunge artists.” – 11 year old Craig Jamieson
Craig states that he wrote his first song after this manifestation.
Craig, who was bullied in middle school for being different, found an outlet in music that helped him transcend to a place that welcomed him; the creative mind. His visual, auditive, tactile, and kinesthetic senses came alive. They brought new meaning to his life. He started to positively embrace Craig.
I had a rough childhood as I was bullied for being different and music helped me turn my anguish and angst into a positive outlet as well as helping me find my voice. Since my pre-teens I have been writing music and lyrics, performing in bands and honing my craft.
Today, Craig feels he is more accomplished in the realm of music production. He has learned to be more hands on in the recording booth and be in control of his craft.
Within the last 5 years I have learned how to record and produce my own music which is a game changer because now I am in control of every aspect of my craft which makes me a more creative and agile artist.
Although Grunge was Craig’s first love, he has grown to appreciate most genres of music. His stories in music take on a shape of their own; a magical fairyland perhaps or a place that will take you back to a particular moment in time. Reemerging in this unique earthly Bardo are the listeners’ moments where they can reflect upon those times that feel so very familiar. For Craig this is a shared yet unique experience.
I have grown up, played and love many types of music and those influences create a uniqueness that is all my own and shines through in my compositions. From Pop Rock to Punk, to 80s, to Folk, to Mainstream Pop, I try to be intelligent with my stories and lyrics and share them in a different way while still being relevant. My music, although unique, still feels nostalgic and familiar. I always write music with the live show in mind picturing people singing and moving along. I have a unique voice that has been compared to many 80s singers. I seek to offer electrifying performances that include audience participation so they can be immersed in the experience.
Craig Jamieson is grateful to his new team members at BigRecords.World including Mark, Dave, Jenny and Tara, and his friend, Brad Gray, for their collaboration in making this new release happen.
“Honey” will be available on all platforms as of Friday, April 11th through the Big Records / UDMG label, and proudly distributed through Virgin / Universal Music Group.
